Chairman's messages and action plan:
The role of the nominating committee is to recommend to the IUMI Council at the annual meetings suitable candidates for the positions of President of IUMI and the Vice Chairmen of IUMI, i.e. members of the IUMI executive committee.
Members of the nominating committee committee are appointed by the President of IUMI with the objective of forming a well balanced committee of people committed to the aims of IUMI and familiar with the talent pool of people actively involved in IUMI affairs. None of the people who serve on any of the IUMI committees are paid for their services. All work is voluntary. To be effective, service on an IUMI committee calls for a firm commitment on the part of the individual and his or her employer. The commitment of committee members to their IUMI responsibilities is reflective of their commitment to the marine insurance industry and of the value they perceive in both learning from and interacting with others involved in the industry. Their voluntary efforts, drawing on their own knowledge and experience helps to lift the professional standards of the marine insurance industry and aids its profitability and thus the survival as a distinct insurance class with global ramifications. Therefore, putting together an experienced and well qualified team on the IUMI executive committee is a responsibility the IUMI nominating committee takes very seriously.
